The format above is a typical daily schedule and is
generally followed. This format is what Glenn Clark (the founder of
CFO) envisioned and implemented to achieve that sought-for-balance:
listening, participating, taking in, and giving out. Below is a brief
explanation of the various parts of the daily program.
Meditation - The day begins with listening to God;
a meditation period during which we quietly prepare ourselves for the
day ahead with the Lord.
Singing - Music is an important part of the daily
CFO program. A jubilant time of participating together in songs of
praise and thanksgiving lifts our spirits, establishes a joyful tone of
rejoicing, and leads us into meaningful worship in the Lord's presence.
Speaking - The speaking leaders provide us with the
opportunity to take in the messages that God has prepared for us that
day. These leaders do not preach to us, but rather, they share how the
Lord is working in their lives. Their goal is to assist in blending the
diverse body of believers into oneness in the basic teachings of Jesus.
Rhythms - This group activity combines dance,
music, and exercise in an uninhibited, child-like giving of ourselves
in praise. Also called "Devotion in Motion", Rhythms provide an
opportunity to worship with body, mind and spirit.
Creatives - These are opportunities for release
and self-discovery utilizing various techniques for expressing oneself
in revealing what the Lord has given to each. These techniques include:
-
Writing - After brief prayer or meditation,
the messages that emerge as statements, essays, poems, or psalms reveal
that the Lord works wonders, even - and often especially - in those
unaware of a talent for writing.
-
Art - Again using the power of the
Lord from within, expressions that are meaningful and often beautiful
emerge through various media such as oils, chalks, watercolors, and
finger paints. One need not be an artist to participate.
-
Others - Although writing and art
were the only creatives in the early camps, others have emerged. In
addition to writing and art, Florida Family CFO also offers Creative
Dance, Creative Nature, Creative Listening to God and Creative
Evangelism For Introverts. The primary objective of Creatives is to
provide an opportunity for each and every individual to express the
love of God.
Free Time - Not to be minimized in the daily camp
program is the free time provided to withdraw, reflect, and renew. As
joyful and invigorating as all of the planned elements are, they can be
exhausting as well. Therefore, this time is provided first for rest and
then for recreation of one's own choosing, be it in sports, reading, or
just visiting with other campers.
Prayer Group - Prayer is the foundation of Camps
Farthest Out. Prayer groups are the hub of the Camps, around which all
other activities revolve, and are the most effective means of
cultivating the spiritual life. Each group is small in number to
encourage participation in a nonthreatening, trusting environment. The
purpose of the prayer groups is to learn more about God and experience
His loving presence. It is also a time to seek and expect the fruits of
prayer - receiving, accepting, using, applying, living, and sharing the
answers to prayer.
Fellowship - Enjoying Friendship and social
exchange with fellow Christians is one of the great rewards of a CFO
experience. The mutual acceptance and the non-judgemental relationships
that are created in this warm atmosphere of Jesus' love are unequaled
anywhere in today's world, and friendships formed are often for a
lifetime.
All ages are welcome at Florida Family CFO. While the
emphasis is the family, singles are welcome and encouraged to come. Our
Camp offers every age group an opportunity to grow spiritually,
mentally, and physically.
Younger Children - A nursery provides infants and toddlers with supervised, loving care while their parents enjoy the adult program.
Children's Program - Children 3 years old through
sixth grade will have, at their level, many of the same unique features
of the CFO program as the adults. The children's program includes Bible
stories, music, crafts, prayer time, games and prizes. Children 1st
through 6th grade join the adults for Rhythms and Creatives. The
children will be led by dedicated leaders who love children and who
love the Lord! This age group will be housed with their parents, and
parents are responsible for children when the children are not in
scheduled activities.
Youth Program - The youth program is for young
people entering 7th through 12th grades and includes music, daily
communion, peer prayer groups, speakers and nightly youth meetings.
College-age campers may participate in either the youth program or
adult program. Registration from youth will be accepted only when a
parent, guardian or sponsor over the age of 25 is responsible for them
and is also in attendance at the camp.
